Oregon Farm Direct Marketing Law
Baronial Acres Grange operates under the legal protections and direct-to-consumer framework established by the Oregon Farm Direct Marketing Law. This statute allows agricultural producers to sell farm-grown products, processed fruit, honey, sourdough hearth breads, and raw farm provisions directly to the end consumer without requiring a food establishment license from the Oregon Department of Agriculture (ODA).
By engaging in a transaction, purchasing a Founders Circle membership, or requesting a private allocation from Baronial Acres Grange, the consumer explicitly acknowledges and agrees to the following:
- Informed Consent: The consumer is purchasing uninspected, unlicensed, and farm-raised or homemade provisions directly from the producer (including raw Jersey milk, raw honey, sourdough hearth breads, and farm preserves).
- Direct Transaction: All transactions are conducted directly between the producer (Baronial Acres Grange) and the informed end consumer at our farm site or designated pickup location.
- Assumption of Risk: The consumer willingly accepts any and all inherent risks associated with the consumption of raw, unpasteurized, and direct farm agricultural goods.
- No Resale: Goods procured through Grange allocations are strictly for personal family consumption and may not be utilized as commercial ingredients or resold to the general public.
Federal & State Poultry Exemption (1,000 Bird Limit)
Our heritage poultry program operates under the federal 1,000-bird exemption (Public Law 90-492) and corresponding state agricultural provisions under Oregon Revised Statutes (ORS 603.038). This allows Baronial Acres Grange to ethically and humanely process up to 1,000 pasture-raised birds annually directly on our estate, bypassing commercial slaughterhouse facilities.
Poultry procured through Grange allocations is slaughtered and processed on-farm, is not inspected by the USDA or Oregon Department of Agriculture, and is distributed exclusively direct-to-consumer for private family consumption. It is strictly prohibited from being resold or utilized in commercial food establishments.
Meadery & Traditional Honey Wine Operations
The fermentation, subterranean cellar aging, and distribution of our traditional oak-aged meads and botanical oxymels are conducted in strict adherence to Oregon Liquor and Cannabis Commission (OLCC) Farm Winery and Brewery licensing provisions and federal TTB regulations for small-batch wineries.
Because our mead is produced in highly limited, non-commercial batches, it is distributed exclusively through private Founders Circle memberships and Grange share allocations. We do not operate a public tavern or commercial liquor retail storefront. Members receiving mead allocations explicitly verify they are of legal drinking age (21+) and acknowledge that all honey wines are strictly for private, personal consumption and are legally prohibited from public resale.
Livestock, Seedstock & Custom Meat Shares
The breeding, husbandry, and transfer of live animals at Baronial Acres Grange is conducted in compliance with Oregon brand laws, livestock health inspection protocols, and veterinary transport regulations for live seedstock (Boer Goats, Icelandic Sheep, and Jersey Cattle).
Custom Meat Shares: Any allocation involving the sale of red meat (beef, lamb, goat) operates either as the sale of a live animal share prior to slaughter or under state-exempt custom slaughter provisions. The consumer acknowledges that custom meat products are processed under the buyer's direction and are strictly for personal, non-commercial household consumption.
Private Allocation & Membership Terms
Baronial Acres Grange operates independently of commercial retail systems. We do not maintain a public commercial storefront.
Founders Circle Membership: Membership dues, including the $1,000 Founders Circle presale, are non-refundable investments in the agricultural expansion and architectural restoration of the Grange. Membership guarantees the agreed-upon discount structures and priority access, but does not grant the member any equity, voting rights, or operational control over Baronial Acres Grange, LLC.
The Grange reserves the sovereign right to refuse service, cancel allocations, or refund shares at our sole discretion if a transaction does not align with the stewardship values of our operation.
